Bill Bradley once said, Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.
Well, I just passed the one-year mark for the podcast. March 27th 2023, I made a commitment to show up every week for the next 12 months and you know what, I did it! I am proud of myself, 57 episodes feels amazing!
My mission with BFS is to create a conversation and get curious about this game called life. What I have found as a recruiting professional over the course of two decades is that we as humans are so varied and diverse through our experiences in life, yet we share so many of the same fears and aspirations.
Maslovs hierarchy is as relevant today as it ever was. Physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. There will continue to be change and evolution in the world through technological advancements but as humans, our primal needs are absolutely a necessity.
Below are some of my favorite topics from the past year, including my first interview.

[00:00:00] Welcome to Business Finance and Soul. My name is Shaun Enders and I'm a curious entrepreneur.
[00:00:07] I love exploring business, personal finance and consciousness. I'll jump around topics,
[00:00:13] often my opinions and occasionally interview interesting people. Looking forward to going
[00:00:19] on this journey, let's be curious together.
[00:00:30] Welcome back to Business Finance and Soul. So Bill Bradley once said,
[00:00:36] ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you were arriving.
[00:00:43] Well, I just passed the one year mark for this podcast. And so I can speak to persistence.
[00:00:51] You know March 27th, 2023, I made a commitment to show up every week for the next 12 months.
[00:00:58] And you know what? I did it. I'm proud of myself. 57 episodes feels really amazing.
[00:01:06] And my mission with BFS, Business Finance and Soul is to create a conversation and get curious about this game called life.
[00:01:17] And what I found as a recruiting professional over the course of two decades is that we as humans are so varied
[00:01:26] and diverse through our experiences in life, yet we share so many of the same fears and aspirations.
[00:01:36] And this is where my excitement continues to build. I made a one year commitment of course.
[00:01:43] And that was because I wanted to see how this would unfold. You know, I've never done anything like this before.
[00:01:49] I didn't really have a mission in terms of how many individuals would download episodes or where we would go with this.
[00:01:57] But we've had thousands of downloads. I'd like to see that continue to grow.
[00:02:02] And it's been really exciting to get the feedback from all of you that listen at different times, text messages and emails.
[00:02:11] And you know, when I think about some of these messages that resonate, I think of of Maslow's hierarchy.
[00:02:22] You know, it's as relevant today as it ever was.
[00:02:26] You've got psychological, safety, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization.
[00:02:35] You know, there will continue to be change in evolution in the world through all of our technological advancements.
[00:02:42] But as humans, our primal needs are absolutely a necessity.
[00:02:49] And I think that that's what brings us together. That's why all of us are unique in our own way.
[00:02:56] And we like to share stories. We like to hear from each other and understand how we're navigating our lives.
[00:03:06] And we want to do better for ourselves. And sometimes it's just interesting and entertainment.
[00:03:12] But you know, today I wanted to take a moment and highlight some of my past episodes that I'm really proud of.
[00:03:20] And you know, the feedback that I've received has highlighted how many shared journeys were on.
[00:03:32] And that's exciting for me. You know, financial freedom versus retirement was very important to me because I care so deeply about financial freedom for everyone.
[00:03:43] If you haven't listened to financial freedom versus retirement, it's in there. I don't remember what episode.
[00:03:49] But I just really enjoyed that because I think the conversation around retirement had been something that's just kind of outdated.
[00:03:57] You know, this idea that you just get to a number and then you're done working. That's it.
[00:04:02] You're supposed to go sit on the beach or play golf or do something.
[00:04:06] Most people can't even imagine themselves in a traditional retirement or you just check out.
[00:04:11] I think the conversation around financial freedom is so much more interesting of where we are actually thinking about attaining this sense of financial independence.
[00:04:22] And we get to a point of where we are actually making decisions based on our desires and based on our interests.
[00:04:29] And maybe the way we want to give back in activities that excite us day to day rather than grinding out an existence just for money.
[00:04:39] I mean, we live in a consumer based society. And I don't hate on consumerism.
[00:04:45] You know, but I hate that people go into debt for it.
[00:04:48] So, you know, really financial freedom creates that opportunity for each of us to live in our genius.
[00:04:54] And I think that that's one of the episodes that really got me excited to share my mindset, my philosophy.
[00:05:03] Another one was in posture syndrome. That one I really enjoyed because it's something that we have or will struggle with at some level.
[00:05:13] Now, feeling worthy. It's a battle that we have to work on daily.
[00:05:19] If you're alive, you are worthy. And that's the truth.
[00:05:25] And if you're bettering yourself, if you're pushing yourself, if you're going to another realm of existence that you haven't been in the past,
[00:05:40] you're going to face imposter syndrome. And so I think that one was a great episode because it's something that all of us are going to struggle with or have struggled with.
[00:05:51] Another one trauma for good. That one was important because it applies meaning to the most painful experiences of our life.
[00:05:59] You know, when we appreciate our story, when we embrace the worst of life, we understand more contextually why we're gifted those challenges.
[00:06:11] And I truly believe this. And that episode really represents my beliefs.
[00:06:18] And so I'd like to be vulnerable on that episode. I thought it was a very meaningful just to me personally.
[00:06:28] And so after six months of episodes of recording, I was approached to host my first guest who was Adam Carroll.
[00:06:40] Now, I've interviewed thousands of candidates looking for jobs within my professional career.
[00:06:48] But that first interview with Adam had me super nervous.
[00:06:53] You know, I actually had to listen to a posture to my imposter syndrome episode to kind of ease that anxiety.
[00:07:00] You know, Adam had a TEDx talk with over six million views.
[00:07:05] So he was a perfect first guest because he was very natural.
[00:07:12] He felt very comfortable in conversation. And we just kind of moved along from topic to topic with ease.
[00:07:22] And so Adam was wonderful to have on and got me a little bit more comfortable saying, hey, maybe I do want to have guests more often.
[00:07:30] And so I was exciting. And each time I've had a guest on, it's really been because that individual gets me excited.
[00:07:41] Their message gets me excited. They're bringing a different perspective.
[00:07:44] And it's going to continue to be that way. As I look at guests, you know, the common thread will be they are doing something that interests me.
[00:07:54] And I think that needs to be shared. So my goal moving forward is to continue and mix in guests here and there.
[00:08:04] I'll probably have a minimum of one a month.
[00:08:08] And I think that's kind of a good cadence. But but yeah, as I look at the next 12 months, I'm making another commitment.
[00:08:17] Let's do another year of business finances. So you know, I also want to grow the audience.
[00:08:23] I think that that's exciting for me. I think based on what I've been receiving as far as feedback.
[00:08:31] Some people that I know and some people that I never connected with in the past that just hit me up on LinkedIn.
[00:08:38] You know, I know there's a place in the world for this content. And for the messages from the guests that I'm hosting.
[00:08:49] And so I need your help. You know, there's no way that I can do this without your help.
[00:08:55] So over the next year, I'm asking for support more sharing and engagement.
[00:09:02] And if you love even one podcast that you've listened to, you'll please share it with someone you know that would appreciate and enjoy the message.
[00:09:12] And that's my commitment. We're going to do another year. We're going to put out another 50 plus podcasts.
[00:09:19] And when I state that publicly, it ups the ante. It showcases that that I am committed and that this journey isn't isn't done.
[00:09:33] So this was a quick one today. I just wanted to say thank you for your support. If you're listening to this, I just I appreciate you.
[00:09:43] And that's all I've got. Stay curious and look out for another year of business finances.
